Hubei Educational Group has appointed the department of Biotechnology and chemical Engineering of the Wuhan Poly-Technological University to participate in the second annual "Chu Tian" Scholar Program. Our school is currently looking for a candidate with doctorial degree to fulfill this position.
I. A Short Introduction of the Department of Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering
Biochemical Engineering is the combination of biology, chemistry and engineering. The goal of the department is to transform modern laboratory discoveries into tangible products for today’s market. The curriculum includes Reactionary Biochemistry, Mixture Separation, Genetic-Industrial Engineering, Fermentation Science, Biological Pharmacology, and Yeast Culturing Science. Our department is ranked highly among the universities in Hubei province and it includes a masters program. Our current research areas include Biological Resources, Chemical Engineering and Technology, Biochemical Engineering and Technology, Biological Pharmacology, and Environmental Science. Our department specialization is the usage of Biological Matter Theory for the foundation of biochemical procedures for agricultural manufacturing research.
Our department is a branch of chemical engineering department and is located in the newly built, 20,000 square-meter biochemistry facility. Our current laboratories include over six-million RMB worth of equipment. Our faculty also has access to the main facilities of Hubei Agricultural Manufacturing laboratories, which has over ten-million RMB worth of equipment. The Department of Biochemical Engineering at Wuhan Poly-Technological University currently has five full professors and twelve associate professors of which nine have doctoral degrees. In recent years more than ten journal articles have been accepted by the SCI and six books have been published. One of these books was awarded the second place Provincial Technology Progress Award. Our department has also received over 100 projects from non-academic sources including 30 projects that are of the provincial and national level. These projects have brought in more than 500,000 RMB in funding. In addition to the second place Provincial Progress Award, we have recently received the second place Provincial Research Award, four third place Provincial Progress Awards and four nationally recognized patents. Many of our research developments have already been recognized at the national level.
We hope to employ an individual who will complement our department’s educational abilities as well as contribute to our nationally recognized research projects. Furthermore, this individual should reflect the features and reputation of our school as well as reinforce our position among research institutions in these fields.
II. Candidate Evaluation Criteria and Employment Requirements:
1. Healthy and responsible. The person is a hard worker below the age of 45 (some consideration below the age of 50). The individual must have a doctor’s degree in a related field or experience as a professor (or related experiences).
2. Industrial experience and a good professional reputation. Applicants should have significant experience in scientific research.
3. Creativity and the ability to contribute to the field of biochemical engineering.
4. Management experience, teamwork skills and career ambition.
5. Working commitment of 9 months or more.

III. Study field and goal:
Field: The application of Biological Matter Theory in agriculture, reactionary biochemistry, mixture separation, environmental science, genetic industrial engineering, fermentation science, biological pharmacology, and yeast culturing science.
Goal: 3-5 year program of study ending in an advanced level of research.
IV. Compensation:
1. Salary is 100,000 RMB per year.
2. Professors enjoy all national medical treatment and welfare benefits.
3. The university will provide one million RMB for the starting of the program
4. 10 million RMB will be available to renovate the laboratory and purchase laboratory equipment. This funding can also be used to hire an assistant.
5. The department can offer a 130 – 150 square meter apartment.
